“The magic of an ancient forest”, nature and history come together in an adventure that will allow you to learn about the bond between the ancient Peruvians and their environment. In the middle of the last dense dry forest of carob trees in Peru, you will learn about the magic and mystery of the Sicán kingdom, which developed in northern Peru between 900 and 1100 A.D., as well as its enigmatic adobe pyramids and the amazing landscape in which they developed. The RICHEST of the BOSQUE DE PÓMAC

In Pomac, the largest and densest formation of carob trees on the planet is protected. In this place the Equatorial Dry Forest ecosystem is preserved and its vegetation formations of carob, sapotal and cactus.

This millenary forest shelters the most important and numerous pyramid complex in the country, made up of more than 30 adobe pyramids. In its huacas were found the Ceremonial Tumi and the Winged Eyes Mask, icons that represent Naylamp, mythical founder of the dynasty of the Sicán kings.

The forest is the habitat of diverse species; here we can find more than 100 species of birds, 17 of them endemic to the region of Tumbes. The Peruvian Plantcutter, the Tumbes swallow, the Rufous Flycatcher, and the Tumbes Chat-Tyrant. It is also home to species of reptiles and mammals, such as the pacaso, the macanche boa, the Sechuran fox, and the Guayaquil squirrel, among many others.
